David G. Miller’s Statement on Campaign Finances (10/28)

This is the final week of the 2024 campaign. Since June, it has been a tremendous experience for me to meet literally thousands of Lawrence voters at their front door in every precinct in the second district.

My campaign has not and will not accept any special interest or political action committee (PAC) contributions, period. Rather, more than 50 individuals contributed to my campaign, and we have provided substantial personal funds to finance the campaign. I fully expected that financing would be necessary in an uphill race against a 20-year, entrenched, PAC-funded incumbent.

My website, davidgmiller.com now features a 4-part special series of short videos that I call Marci’s Money. In them, I review the Senator’s massive collection of PAC money. And I expect her next report will list thousands more from special interest PACs.

The first two videos review her fifth term (2021-2024) contributions. The third video explains her refusal to support the 2024 tax cut legislation. The final video explains the Legislature’s enactment of a massive pay increase. That 93% increase was passed with the Senator’s help.

Everyone is shocked by the pay increase. It is truly outrageous.

But the Senator’s position is clear: she gets a huge pay increase, but a tax cut was not supported.

At the start of the campaign, I asked what she has accomplished in twenty years. I now have the answer. A 93% pay increase.
